Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 17, 2026
PocketToolsLab ("PocketToolsLab", "we", "us", or "our") respects your privacy.
This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the PocketToolsLab website and PocketToolsLab applications covered by this policy, including PortAero Codes.
1. Applications Covered
This Privacy Policy applies to:
- the official PocketToolsLab website;
- PortAero Codes; and
- other PocketToolsLab applications that explicitly link to this Privacy Policy.
Different PocketToolsLab applications may provide different features and may use different third-party services. Where relevant, this policy identifies practices that apply specifically to PortAero Codes.
2. Information We Process
PocketToolsLab aims to minimize the personal information processed directly by our applications.
PortAero Codes does not require you to create a PocketToolsLab account.
The application is designed primarily as an offline-capable reference tool. After the required reference datasets have been downloaded, core features such as browsing, searching, filtering, sorting, viewing location details, Favorites, and Custom Locations can operate using data stored locally on your device.
Some features require an internet connection, including:
- initial reference dataset downloads;
- dataset update checks and downloads;
- advertising and consent services;
- Google Play Billing; and
- access to external services such as Google Maps when applicable.
Third-party services integrated with the application may process information as described in this policy and in their own privacy policies.
3. Information Stored Locally on Your Device
PortAero Codes stores certain information locally on your device to provide its features.
This may include:
- Favorites;
- Custom Locations;
- application preferences and settings;
- downloaded reference datasets; and
- related local application state.
Custom Locations may contain information entered by you, including:
- location name;
- location type;
- country code;
- municipality; and
- coordinates.
This information is used to provide application functionality and is not intended to be uploaded to a PocketToolsLab account or synchronized with PocketToolsLab servers.
Removing the application or clearing its application data may remove locally stored information.
4. Device Location and Coordinates
PortAero Codes does not request Android device-location permissions and does not use your device's GPS to determine your location.
The release version of PortAero Codes does not request:
- precise location permission;
- approximate location permission; or
- background location permission.
Coordinates displayed by PortAero Codes come from reference datasets or from information manually entered by the user.
The presence of coordinates in the application therefore does not mean that PortAero Codes is accessing or tracking the physical location of your device.
Third-party advertising services may independently derive approximate location information from network information such as an IP address, subject to their own systems, policies, consent requirements, and applicable law. This is separate from PortAero Codes accessing Android location services or GPS.
5. Advertising and Consent
The free version of PortAero Codes uses Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) to display advertising.
The application also uses Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) to support advertising-related consent requirements where applicable.
Depending on your device, region, consent choices, Google services, and applicable law, Google and its advertising technologies may process information such as:
- advertising identifiers;
- approximate location derived from network information such as an IP address;
- application interactions;
- device and application information;
- diagnostic information; and
- advertising-related data.
PocketToolsLab does not control all information independently processed by Google through these services.
Where required, consent choices are presented through the consent mechanisms provided for the application.
Purchasing Premium removes advertising from PortAero Codes.
6. Premium Purchases
PortAero Codes offers an optional Premium one-time purchase.
PortAero Codes does not use a subscription for Premium.
Purchases are processed through Google Play Billing.
PocketToolsLab does not receive or store your complete payment-card details. Payment processing is handled by Google Play.
The application may receive purchase-related information necessary to:
- determine whether Premium has been purchased;
- unlock Premium functionality; and
- restore or verify purchase entitlement where applicable.
Premium currently removes advertising from PortAero Codes.
7. Android Permissions
The Android permissions used by PortAero Codes have been verified against the final merged release manifest for the Closed Testing build, versionCode 4.
The release manifest includes permissions used for:
- internet access;
- network-state detection;
- Google Play Billing;
- advertising identifiers and Android advertising services; and
- supporting functionality contributed by Google Mobile Ads and its AndroidX/WorkManager dependencies.
Some permissions are contributed transitively by Google Mobile Ads and its AndroidX/WorkManager dependencies. Their presence does not mean that PortAero Codes directly implements the corresponding platform functionality.
For example, the release manifest contains permissions related to wake locks and foreground services through dependencies, while PortAero Codes does not implement its own foreground service for user-facing functionality.
The verified release manifest does not request permissions for:
- device location;
- camera;
- microphone;
- contacts;
- photos, media, or general storage access;
- notifications; or
- Bluetooth.
PortAero Codes does not request runtime permission to access your device location and does not use the device GPS.
Permissions and dependencies may change in future versions if application functionality changes. Material privacy-related changes will be reflected in this Privacy Policy where appropriate.
8. Third-Party Services
PortAero Codes uses or interacts with third-party services that may process information independently under their own terms and privacy policies.
These services currently include:
Google Play
PortAero Codes is distributed through Google Play.
Google may process information related to application distribution, installation, updates, purchases, device compatibility, security, and other Google Play functionality.
Google Play Billing
Google Play Billing processes the optional Premium purchase and provides the application with information necessary to determine purchase entitlement.
Google Mobile Ads (AdMob)
Google Mobile Ads is used to display advertising in the free version of PortAero Codes.
Google may process advertising identifiers, device information, application interactions, approximate location derived from network information, diagnostic information, and other advertising-related data in accordance with Google's policies and applicable consent choices.
Google User Messaging Platform (UMP)
Google User Messaging Platform is used to support advertising-related consent management where required.
Google Maps
PortAero Codes may allow users to open coordinates or locations using Google Maps or related Google mapping services.
When you choose to access an external Google service, information is handled according to Google's applicable terms and privacy policies.
PocketToolsLab does not use Google Maps to obtain your device's GPS location.
9. Analytics and Firebase
PortAero Codes does not currently use Firebase Analytics.
Firebase Remote Config is also not currently active in PortAero Codes.
If analytics or other data-processing services are introduced in a future version, this Privacy Policy will be updated where appropriate before or when those services become active.
10. Reference Data and External Data Sources
PortAero Codes provides reference information using third-party datasets.
Current data sources include:
- UN/LOCODE for trade and transport location reference data; and
- OurAirports for airport reference data.
Reference datasets may contain identifiers, names, geographic coordinates, administrative information, transport functions, airport information, and other location-related reference data.
This reference information describes airports, trade locations, transport locations, and related facilities. It is not information collected from the user's device.
PocketToolsLab does not claim ownership of third-party reference datasets unless explicitly stated.
Use of third-party datasets is subject to the applicable terms, notices, attribution requirements, and rights associated with those sources.
References to a third-party organization or dataset do not imply endorsement of PortAero Codes or PocketToolsLab by that organization.
11. Website Information
When you visit the PocketToolsLab website, standard technical information may be processed by the infrastructure used to deliver the website.
Depending on the hosting and delivery services in use, this may include information such as:
- IP address;
- browser and device information;
- requested pages;
- date and time of requests; and
- technical logs necessary for security, reliability, and operation.
PocketToolsLab does not use this Privacy Policy to claim that information is collected when the relevant website service or feature is not actually in use.
If additional analytics, advertising, account, or tracking technologies are introduced on the website, this Privacy Policy will be updated as appropriate.
12. Data Retention
Information stored locally by PortAero Codes generally remains on your device until it is removed through application functionality, application data is cleared, or the application is uninstalled, subject to Android behavior.
Information processed independently by third-party services is retained according to the policies and retention practices of those providers.
PocketToolsLab does not maintain a PortAero Codes user account containing your Favorites, Custom Locations, or application preferences.
13. Data Security
PocketToolsLab takes reasonable measures to design and operate its software with privacy and security in mind.
However, no software, device, network transmission, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Information stored locally by PortAero Codes is also subject to the security of your Android device and operating system.
14. Children's Privacy
PortAero Codes is not designed specifically for children.
PocketToolsLab does not knowingly design PortAero Codes to collect personal information directly from children through a PocketToolsLab account.
Advertising and consent behavior may be subject to Google Play requirements, Google advertising policies, applicable age-related requirements, and applicable law.
If PocketToolsLab becomes aware that personal information has been processed in a manner inconsistent with applicable children's privacy requirements, we will take appropriate steps where reasonably possible.
15. Your Choices
Depending on the feature and applicable law, you may have choices regarding how information is processed.
For PortAero Codes, you can:
- use core reference features offline after the required datasets have been downloaded;
- manage or remove Favorites and Custom Locations within the application where those controls are available;
- manage application data through Android system settings;
- uninstall the application to remove its locally stored application data, subject to Android behavior;
- make advertising-related consent choices where presented;
- manage relevant Google advertising settings through Google services; and
- purchase Premium to remove advertising from PortAero Codes.
Choices relating to information processed independently by Google or other third-party providers may need to be exercised through those providers.
16. International Users
Third-party service providers may process information in countries other than the country in which you live.
Their handling of information, including international transfers where applicable, is governed by their respective privacy practices and applicable law.
PocketToolsLab will update this policy if its own data-processing practices materially change in a way that requires additional information regarding international processing or transfers.
17. Changes to This Privacy Policy
PocketToolsLab may update this Privacy Policy when:
- application functionality changes;
- third-party services change;
- data-processing practices change;
- legal or regulatory requirements change; or
- clarification is necessary.
When the policy is updated, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised.
Material changes will be communicated where required by applicable law or platform requirements.
