Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about PortAero Codes and PocketToolsLab applications.

Where can I find information about PortAero Codes?

The PortAero Codes product page provides information about features, supported data sources, technical requirements, Premium and the current release status.

Does PortAero Codes work offline?

Yes. After the required reference datasets have been downloaded, core features including browsing, search, filters, sorting, location details, Favorites and Custom Locations can be used without a continuous internet connection. Internet access is still required for dataset downloads and updates, advertising and consent services, Google Play Billing, and external services such as Google Maps when applicable.

Why does PortAero Codes need an internet connection?

Internet access is used for the initial reference dataset downloads, dataset update checks and downloads, advertising and consent services, Google Play Billing, and access to external services such as Google Maps when applicable.

Does PortAero Codes access my device location or GPS?

No. PortAero Codes does not request Android device-location permissions and does not use your device GPS. Coordinates displayed by the application come from reference datasets or from information you enter manually.

Where are my Favorites and Custom Locations stored?

Favorites, Custom Locations, application preferences and related application data are stored locally on your device. PortAero Codes does not require a PocketToolsLab account to use these features.

What information can I save in a Custom Location?

Custom Locations can include information such as a location name, location type, country code, municipality and coordinates entered by you.

Does Premium require a subscription?

No. PortAero Codes Premium is a one-time purchase processed through Google Play Billing. It is not a subscription.

What does PortAero Codes Premium include?

Premium removes advertising from PortAero Codes. The core reference and location-management features remain available in the free version.

How do I restore my Premium purchase?

Premium entitlement is associated with the Google Play account used for the purchase. Make sure you are using the same Google Play account and that the device is connected to the internet so the application can verify the purchase.

Why am I seeing advertising?

The free version of PortAero Codes uses advertising to support the application. Purchasing Premium removes advertising.

Where does PortAero Codes get its reference data?

PortAero Codes currently uses UN/LOCODE for trade and transport location reference data and OurAirports for airport reference data.

I found incorrect or outdated reference data. What should I do?

Reference information originates from third-party datasets and may change over time. First make sure the latest available datasets have been downloaded. If the issue remains, contact PocketToolsLab support with the location name, relevant code and a description of the problem.

I found a problem with PortAero Codes. How can I report it?

Contact PocketToolsLab support by email and include the application name, app version, Android version, device model, a description of what happened and, where useful, the steps needed to reproduce the problem. Screenshots can also help when the issue is visual.
